The Cortez Burst is a Sprint Triathlon featuring races for everyone! From kids to adults & beginners to seasoned Triathletes, there's something for everyone. The Cortez Burst is the first race in the Southwest Colorado Triathlon Series.

The Cortez Burst is a Sprint Triathon featuring races for everyone, kids to adults - beginners to seasoned Triathletes. The Cortez Burst is the first of four races in the Southwest Colorado Triathlon Series. Consider participating in them all and get a 10% discount on each race. Race participants can also use the ITSYourRace mobile app or itsyourrace.com/specific details to view and share finish line photos with family and friends for free on Facebook along with free custom finisher certificates!



2017 Registration 

Adult Recreational Sprint Race 

    $50 - individual

    $100 - team



Adult Competitive Sprint Race 

    $65 - individual (no team category)

 

4 & 5 year old Triathlon

    $10 individual



Kids 6-10 & 11-14 Triathlon

    $20 - individual kids (either age group)

    $40 - team kids (either age group)

Early bird registration ends June 19, 2016 at midnight.  

Race Day registration is available, but there is an increased fee!

Online registration closes July 3rd 2016 at 7:00pm.



PARKING
 All participants and spectators may park at the parking lot at the City of Cortez Outdoor Pool - 803 E. Montezuma Ave., Cortez, CO.



START/FINISH 


The Race begins with a swim in the City of Cortez Outdoor Pool. The outdoor pool is located at 803 E. Montezuma Ave., Cortez, CO. The finish line is located in City Park, adjacent to the Outdoor Pool.





Kids Triathlon Events
4-5 years olds

4 & 5 year olds can compete in a triathlon of their own with the help of their parents (parents will accompany them through the whole race, including the swim).  They will compete the evening before the official triathlon, on July 3rd, 2016; Check in begins at 4:30, race begins at 5:00pm!  Each child will receive a participation award; actual places are not awarded.  



Swim: 50 meters

Bike:  0.5 miles

Run: 0.25 miles



6 - 10 years old

The 6-10 year olds will compete after the adult race has finished on July 4th, 2016.  Check in between 8:00 and 8:30 am.  

All 6-10 year olds including team participants will receive a participation award.  


Places are not awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.  



Swim: 100 meters

Bike: 1 mile

Run: 1 mile



11-14 years old

The 11-14 year olds will compete after the adult race has finished on July 4th, 2016.  

?1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded to the winning individuals and teams.  


Swim: 300 meters

Bike: 3 miles

Run: 1.5 miles

Recreational Sprint Distance Triathlon

The Recreational Sprint Distance Triathlon is fun for anyone wishing to compete in our event.  It's a great course for beginners who want to try their first triathlon and may be completed individually or in teams of 2 or 3 people.  This event is for people ages 15 and up.



Sprint Triathlon Distances

Swim: 500 meters (outdoor pool)

Bike: 12 miles

Run: 3 miles




Age Categories

Prizes will be awarded in the following age groups:

Age 15-29

Age 30-39

Age 40-49

Age 50-59

Age 60 and over


Competitive Sprint Distance Triathlon

Are you looking for a little bit more of a challenge?  This event takes place on the same course as the Recreational event, but we've added a little extra distance to challenge you a bit further.  The Competitive Sprint Triathlon may only be done individually and is for people ages 15 and up.  



Sprint Triathlon Distances

Swim: 500 meters (outdoor pool)

Bike: 16 miles

Run: 4 miles




Age Categories:

Open Class: anyone age 15 and up

TIMING & FINISH LINE SERVICES 


Gun start/chip finish timing services using industry leading Jaguar Electronic RFID timing will be provided by BCRacetiming.  Preliminary results are updated throughout the race in real time and can be accessed at any time.
